à Assen ( Pays(Bas ) en 1927, mort à Dieudonné
Born in Assen (The Netherlands) in 1927, died in Dieudonné in 1995.
Large flat areas of thickly applied oil construct works that form a damn holding back time, organising chaos and maintaining a balance by grace of a style that set out to be authoritative but succeeded in transmuting this urge into coherent energy. A warm and generous lyricism announces each period, named after the lands he loved; Chora, Amargos, Grande Rivière, Egypt, Dieudonné.
The Centre Culturel de Metz devoted an exhibition to his work on the event of his sudden death. Admired by Romain Gary, who wrote a preface for one of his exhibitions.
